Knockout Competitions

The league runs four knockout competitions:-

League Knockouts - for a team of six players (three pairs), plus a pair of players, and the team captain. Fixtures for each round are drawn at the monthly league meetings. Teams play against each other on a straightforward knockout basis with separate trophies for the winning team, pair and captain, and a further trophy for the runner-up in the same categories.

Jack Danks Knockout - for teams of six players in three pairs. All teams in the league are entered and are divided into four zones by means of a draw. Teams in each zone play against each other in a strict knockout basis thus producing four zone winners. On a single night, towards the end of the season, the four zone winners play for first to fourth place on a straight knockout basis with all four participants winning a trophy.

All or nothing Knockout - a competition for teams of six players. All teams meet at a single venue for the first match of the new year. Teams draw for position on a grid which leads to the competition winner. Three pairs play just a single game each which they either win or lose (hence all or nothing). The teams carry on knocking each other out until it produces a winner. The whole of the competition is conducted on that single night. Only the winning team receives a trophy

Open Pairs Knockout - a competition for pairs of players. Entrants do not have to be league players, the competition is open to any players, the only stipulation being that they must play at one of the Pubs or Clubs situated in the area covered by the league. Each player pays a £1 entrance fee which goes into a prize fund. The competition is played on a straight knockout basis and, apart from a trophy, the winners and runners-up also receive a cash prize from the prize pool.
